Garden Education Volunteers
Formerly called the Master Garden Volunteer Program, the new name in Ramsey County is Garden Education Volunteers of Ramsey County. This program is a collaboration between the County and the University of Minnesota Extension. Find online and in-person classes and get advice from gardening experts:

Blue Thumb Workshops
Find in-person or online classes and workshops to learn skills to create rain gardens, native plantings, pollinator habitat, and more.

Community Gardening
There are several public and private community gardens in Roseville, most of which are already full for the 2026 gardening season. If you have a plot or want to start a new community garden, here are some resources.

Garden Plant Sales
Roseville Native Plant Sale
The City of Roseville is hosting a native plant sale in partnership with Minnesota Native Landscapes, offering plant mixes and seeds at special discount partner pricing. For this sale, you order ahead between April 13 and May 14 and then pick-up at City Hall on May 30.

Shoreview Community Garden Club & Owasso Garden Club Plant Sale
Local gardeners in two garden clubs are collaborating on a joint garden club annual plan sale to be held at Lake Owasso County Park in Shoreview on May 16. A variety of annuals, perennials, natives, house plants, and veggies and herbs will be available 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or until sold out. The sale will also include garden art, books, tools, and other items.

Friends School Plant Sale
This massive plant sale is a fundraiser for the Friends School and is held annually on Mother's Day weekend at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand. This is May 8-10, 2026. This event is so popular that people line-up to get a wristband for a timed entry. Bring a friend and your own cart or wagon.

Ramsey County Master Gardeners Plant Sale
The annual plant sale hosted by Ramsey County Garden Education Volunteers will take place on May 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Aldrich Ice Arena in Maplewood. The sale will include native plants, annual flowers, vegetables, herbs, perennial landscape plans, and houseplants. There will also be gardening supplies and decor available.

Free Stuff
Plate to Garden Event with Free Compost Giveaway
The Ramsey County Environmental Center is hosting an event on May 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to give away free, locally sourced compost.
Roseville Leaf Recycling Center
The Roseville Leaf Recycling Center is still open! The city council considered closing it in the fall, but decided to give it at least one more year. You can drop off leaves and food scraps pick-up free compost. You can also order compost delivery, which will be available to order beginning on April 20 with the first delivery starting May 1.
Countertop Compost Bins
The City of Roseville is giving away free kitchen compost bins. Anyone is welcome to one. They are available either at the City Hall front desk, or the Engineering window on the first floor of City Hall
