What to expect at the April 22 Roseville Area School Board meeting
The Roseville Area School Board will be meeting this week on Tuesday, April 22. Below is a summary of the major topics planned for discussion.
Community Input
6:00 p.m.
If you want to provide any feedback to the school board, come to the community input session at 6:00 p.m. You must sign up by 3:00 p.m. the day of the meeting by filling out an online sign-up form or contacting the superintendent's office in person, by email, or by phone: 651-628-6452.

Regular School Board Meeting

After announcements, comments, and recognitions, the board will hear from two special guests.
The first is the Roseville Area Schools Foundation. The Foundation raises money for grants to support teachers and programs focused on eliminating opportunity gaps, college and career readiness, and social emotional learning.
The second guest is Nate Gibbs, the new principal of Parkview Center School who will be starting on July 1. Gibbs is currently an administrator in the Teaching and Learning Department from Eastern Carver County. Before that, he served as a high school principal, a middle school principal, and a K-8 assistant principal.
“He is a proven leader with a clear commitment to equity and high expectations,” the District announced in the April 16 Raider Reader e-newsletter.

Reports and Non-Action Items
Information about the AVID program in Roseville Area Schools will be presented by Anna Barnes and Tana Bogenholm, AVID District Directors, and Delon Smith, Associate Superintendent of Equity and Innovation.
AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. It’s a global non-profit working with schools and districts to provide district support for students who have the potential of becoming first-generation college students.
Next, the board will hear a staffing diversity report from Kenyatta McCarty, executive director of human resources. She will be joined by Amanda Cotton, recruitment and retention specialist, and members of FOCUS, the district’s affinity group for BIPOC educators. This presentation will also include data collected from interviews with BIPOC staff members, presented by Delon Smith.
Action Items
The board will be voting on whether or not to approve the proposal to transition Harambee Elementary School from a year-round learning year to a nine-month calendar starting in 2026-2027 school year. Superintendent Jenny Loeck will present the proposal for the change. Earlier in the meeting, a summary of community input from the last meeting related to this proposal will be provided.
The board will be voting on a resolution in Response to the Letter of Non-Concurrence from the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee. Read the letter here.
The board will be voting on whether to approve a one-year contract with Kavira Direct Primary Care Services, a direct-to-employer healthcare provider.
The board will be voting on Policy 724 - School Bus Transportation. This will be the second reading of the policy. No changes were recommended when it was first read on April 8.
The board will be voting on the changes to Policy 732 - Student Transportation Safety. The first draft was read April 8 meeting. This draft includes recommended revisions since then.
Board Reports
Finally, the meeting will conclude with a Study Session Report, Board Member Reports, and the Superintendent’s Report.
How to Watch the School Board Meeting
School Board meetings are open to the public unless a closed session is part of the agenda. Meetings are held in the Fairview Room at Aŋpétu Téča Education Center (1910 County Road B West in Roseville). Meetings are usually held on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, except July.
You can watch live on the district's Channel 18, streamed live online, or on the Roseville Area Schools YouTube Channel. A recording of the meeting will be uploaded within 7 days to the board meeting archives.
