Roseville's largest woodland park is set to temporarily close April 1 for what city staff are calling an effort to “return the wild to the people.”

The old reservoir, now full of brush and trees, will be cleaned out and filled with sand and chlorinated water to make a new community-wide pool.

“We know the community has been asking for more places to connect. We figured, why not start with an outdoor pool?” Assistant Deputy of Parks April Abril told the Roseville Reader.

The pool will have a water slide and swim-up bar with pull tabs to benefit local charities.

This project has not been discussed in city council meetings and was not part of the 2026 budget. City staff declined to comment on where the funding was coming from.

Looking deeper, we discovered the project’s budget line item marked April 1 came from the April Fools grant.
