Roseville leaf site to open with new staffed hours
Limited staffed hours and new ID requirements at the Leaf Recycling Center this fall
The City of Roseville's leaf drop-off and compost site will open for five weeks with new staffed hours on October 23, 2026.
The 2.5 acre Leaf Recycling Center, which collects 30,000 - 35,000 cubic yards of leaves annually, is popular with many Roseville residents. In a July 2026 presentation to city council, staff said 2025 was the busiest season yet and they closed the site three days earlier than planned because it was full.
In September 2025, Public Works Director Jesse Freihammer brought a proposal to the city council recommending closure of Roseville's leaf site due to challenges with illegal dumping and upcoming equipment expense concerns. The site was not monitored by staff, which meant there was no enforcement of the site's existing restrictions. At the time, the city council chose to defer the decision to provide more opportunity for the community to give input.
After receiving feedback from the community, including dozens of written requests to keep it open, the Roseville City Council voted to keep the site open and approved a new staff proposal to implement changes to how the site functions, at the July 20, 2026 city council meeting.
