Roseville News Update Jan. 23
How we're covering what's happening right now
Hey Roseville,
Just a quick update for you today about what's happening and how The Roseville Reader is approaching coverage right now.
Last night
At the Jan. 22, 2025 Special City Council Meeting, the Roseville city council unanimously approved the resolution to adopt an ordinance restricting how city resources, including data and property, can be used for federal immigration enforcement. You can read that ordinance language here.
The city council also unanimously approved a resolution not to approve the suggested revised language in Roseville Police Department Policy 413 in order to further refine the language. This will be coming back for discussion in February.
The city council also directed city staff to prep a draft letter to the Minnesota Legislature to advocate for an eviction moratorium in the State of Minnesota. This will be on the agenda for Monday's regular city council meeting. The council was already planning to discuss 2026 Legislative Priorities.
We will follow-up with a more robust article about what happened at the meeting later, but if you can't wait, here's the recording.
