(See the draft of Policy 400 in full here.)

Work Study Session
7:00 p.m.
Review a draft of the district’s 2025 legislative priorities, which were developed by a subcommittee of board members and district staff. These priorities include:
Establish Funding Priorities
Enhance Student-Centered Learning
Ensure Safe Schools for Students and Staff
Discuss MN Senate File 634 which was introduced in the Elections Committee on Jan. 30, 2025. The bill would require general elections of school districts in Minnesota to be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in even-numbered years. Currently, school boards are allowed to change the year of their general elections by resolution. Roseville Area Schools is one of 25 districts that hold odd-year elections in Minnesota. The agenda includes a letter of testimony from Greg Abbott, a representative from the Minnesota School Boards Association and Association of Metropolitan School Districts, arguing to keep the freedom for school districts to choose to hold elections on odd-years.
“Those districts have stuck with an odd-year election because they believe keeping the nonpartisan races out of a very partisan even-year election system gives people a better understanding of who is running and keeps the focus of odd-year elections on school issues.” —Greg Abbott
The school board will participate in a professional development session on anti-racist leadership with the Office of Educational Equity.
School Board meetings and work sessions are open to the public unless a closed session is part of the agenda. Meetings are held in the Fairview Room at Aŋpétu Téča Education Center (1910 County Road B West in Roseville). Meetings are usually held on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, except July. So far in 2025, meetings have been frequently rescheduled to accommodate the changing dates for the House District 40B Special Election.
You can watch live on the district's Channel 18, streamed live online, or on the Roseville Area Schools YouTube Channel. A recording of the meeting will be uploaded within 7 days to the board meeting archives.
